No CommentsU.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced on April 7 that it has received a sufficient number of H-1B petitions to reach the statutory cap of 65,000 visas for fiscal year (FY) 2015. USCIS has also received more than the limit of 20,000 H-1B petitions filed under the advanced degree exemption.

The H-1B visa system is unsustainable under the present system and is in serious need of reform. In the first five days of the filing period last week(April 1-5), USICS received approximately 124,000 H-1B petitions during the filing period, including petitions filed for the advanced degree exemption.

I filed an H-1B petition on Friday for an April 1, 2013 delivery. The case looks great and I do expect an approval. What bothers me, however, is the sheer lunacy of the H-1B visa process right now.

On June 11, 2012, USCIS received a sufficient number of petitions to reach the statutory cap for FY-2013. On June 7, 2012, USCIS also received more than 20,000 H-1B petitions on behalf of persons exempt from the cap under the advanced degree exemption.
