Global Entry Appeals: Denial or Revocation Inquiry Procedures

I have previously blogged about HOW TO APPEAL a Global Entry denial or revocation.Ā  This discussion involves both denial and revocation inquiries.Ā  CBP (U.S. Customs and Border Protection) has recently started taking away, or,Ā  revoking, the privileges of current Global Entry members.

The inquiry process covers denials or revocations from the SENTRI, NEXUS or FAST or Global Entry programs.Ā  These are the Trusted Traveler programs.

I see two possible scenarios that require making such an inquiry:

  • An applicant appeals a denial but does not receive a response from CBP.
  • CBP revokes the privileges of an existing global entry (SENTRI, NEXUS or FAST, etc…) member, but the member does not know why

To inquire into an appeal or revocation, you may contact the local Trusted Traveler Program Enrollment Center to schedule an appointment to speak with a supervisor.Ā  Here is a link to the GLOBAL ENTRY ENROLLMENT CENTER nearest you.Ā  If necessary, you may also send an email or write to the CBP Trusted Traveler Ombudsman at:Ā Ā  CBP.cbpvc@dhs.gov.Ā  Ā  SOURCE

For either scenario, I believe that it is best to first start with an email to the CBP Ombudsman.Ā  This method will give you some information to work with before making an appointment to speak with a supervisor.Ā  Before sending the email, you should access your GOES Account.Ā  You or your attorney should examine all prior correspondence from CBP in the GOES Account.Ā  Is the Denial Notification letter in your GOES Account profile?Ā  It should be there.Ā  If the material is not there, you or your attorney should obtain this information fromĀ CBP.Ā  The CBP Ombudsman can provide an Applicant or his/her attorney with prior correspondence using the above referenced email address, typically sent as a PDF file.Ā  Once you obtain the proper denial information, you can properly appealĀ  and address each CBP concern.

I was denied Global Entry because my ex committed a crime. Can I fight this ? I have not divorced yet but he leave the country I do not have any contact.

    • CBP has denied or revoked Global Entry or SENTRI applicants in the past under a ā€˜close association is an indication of riskā€™ basis. How to correct that is anyoneā€™s guess.

I was denied Global Entry. I have a DUI on my record from 2010. Does that mean I will never be able to qualify for Global Entry?

    • If you had a felony conviction, you probably will not qualify. You should obtain certified copies of the court disposition or transcript (different courthouses use different names for it, ie. the minutes) so you can show CBP the disposition for this incident.
