President Obama gave a speech in June about immigration.Ā
Here is the full text of President Obama’s latest statements on immigration:
President Obama is constantly repeating himself with regard to immigration.Ā Every speech has the same buzz words:Ā “comprehensive immigration reform”, “broken immigration system”, “balance tough security”, etc…
Here is my take:Ā we just will not see comprehensive immigration reform in this political environment.Ā The democrats simply do not have the political clout.Ā They do not have a majority in the House.Ā
Border security should alsoĀ be a separate issue from immigration reform.Ā Do we have to wall up our borders first in order to discuss immigration reform?
Rather than comprehensive immigration reform,Ā I would like to see thisĀ Administration take small steps towards immigration reform.Ā PassingĀ smaller, beneficialĀ measures such as the Start Up Visa Act would have a much higher chances to pass than some big and unwieldy Comprehensive Immigration Reform Plan.Ā What do you think?
