The Wall Street Journal (Link) reported that a recent poll has found that 51% of Americans disapproveĀ ofĀ the job Mr. Obama is doing as presidentĀ Ā for the first time sinceĀ his inauguration.Ā Ā
According to the article, President Obama is losing support from key groups including political independents, women and Hispanics.Ā Ā
Last month, President Obama moved to ease tensions with Hispanics by expanding the role of Prosecutorial Discretion.Ā See MY SUMMARY of theĀ new AIC Question & AnswerĀ for this policyĀ shift.Ā Ā Ā Ā But, will this be enough?Ā I believe Mr. Obama will need more changes in order to win back some of the HispanicĀ vote.Ā Ā Ā
President Obama a month earlier had insisted that he cannot use his executive powers to change immigration policy.Ā (See LINK).Ā That was July.Ā He changed his tune in August with Prosecutorial Discretion.Ā
I previously wrote about aĀ change the Obama Administration could make.Ā See OBAMAāS NEXT LIKELY MOVE IN IMMIGRATION.Ā Ā The Republicans are gaining ground on the President.Ā HeĀ needs help to secure re-election.Ā Expanding the Parole in Place program shouldĀ secure more votes for the President.Ā Ā Ā I believe the President would have to put this program into effect before and not if, or after, he secures re-election.Ā Ā
